Meet the Fresno Team Behind Benson ADU Fresno

We’re a small crew by design. Every person who walks onto your Fresno property is someone we’ve hired personally, vetted, and trained on the exact way Benson ADU Fresno builds. No subcontractor roulette, no random day laborers. You’ll know our names, you’ll see the same faces from the first site walk to the final walkthrough, and you’ll have a direct line to the person actually doing the work. That’s how Troy Eastman has run jobs since 2006, and it’s not changing now.

Our People

The living room inside a new ADU

Troy Eastman, Owner & Lead Builder

Troy started building in the Central Valley before ADU was a word most homeowners knew. He’s the one who walks your lot first, looks at your setbacks (the required distance between a structure and the property line), checks your access points, and tells you straight whether a detached ADU, a garage conversion, or a JADU (junior accessory dwelling unit, which is a smaller ADU built inside an existing home) makes sense for your specific parcel. He’s the person who caught a bad soil condition on a Fowler job that would’ve added $14,000 in foundation work if nobody looked before quoting. That’s the thing about Troy: he’d rather lose a bid telling you the truth than win one pretending the problem doesn’t exist. Away from the job site, he’s a BBQ guy who insists tri-tip is a Fresno birthright and he’ll defend that position with data.

Marcus D., Senior Installer

Marcus has been with the Benson crew for nine years and has led installations on more than 40 ADU and room addition projects across the region. He’s the one who handles the prefab panel sets, which are wall and floor sections built off site in a factory and assembled on your lot in days instead of weeks. Marcus is certified to install James Hardie cladding and has worked directly with Abodu, Dvele, and Boxabl panel systems, so when he says a wall is square and sealed, it’s square and sealed. He’s also the crew’s unofficial weather oracle: if Marcus says rain is coming by 2 p.m., we tarp everything by 1:30. He learned that instinct after a surprise downpour during a Clovis cottage ADU project in 2019, and he’s been right often enough that nobody argues anymore.

Elena R., Service Coordinator

Elena is the voice on the other end of the phone more often than not. She’s been with us for six years, and her job is to make sure you never wonder what’s happening with your project. She tracks every phase, schedules inspections, and sends you the written price breakdown before any work begins, so you’re never surprised by a number you didn’t see coming. Elena also handles the permit paperwork trail, and she knows the Fresno Municipal Code requirements for ADU setbacks and maximum square footage well enough to quote them from memory. When she’s not coordinating builds, she’s running a small garden plot in her backyard where she grows tomatoes every summer. Ask her about it and expect a ten-minute conversation. We’ve all learned to budget time for that.

Dev P., Apprentice

Dev joined us two years ago after finishing trade school, and he’s the person you’ll see handling the detail work: flashing, trim, door hardware, that last pass with a level before the inspector walks through. Every Benson project has an apprentice on site because Troy believes the only way to build a crew you can trust is to train them yourself. Dev is methodical, maybe a little too methodical, which is exactly what you want from someone cutting into your exterior wall to tie a room addition into the existing roofline. He’s also the reason our job sites stay this clean, because he treats a broom like it’s part of the build kit. When he’s not on a ladder, he’s working on a 1972 Ford pickup that runs about as often as it doesn’t, and he’ll tell you that’s part of the charm.

One Standard, Every Job

Every person on this crew operates under the same promise, and it’s not a handshake thing. It’s written. Before any work starts, you get a written price. Not a verbal estimate, not a ballpark, not a “we’ll see how it goes.” A line-item price on paper. If, within 365 days of completion, something isn’t done right, Benson makes it right, and that guarantee is stamped on the project. If a covered repair fails, we come back for a free second visit, no argument, no invoice. The crew also builds with prefab systems from Abodu, Cover, Dvele, Mighty Buildings, Boxabl, and Plant Prefab, plus Tuff Shed structures, so you can research every material and brand we use before you ever sign anything. Uniformed, background-checked, and reachable through a live person around the clock. That standard doesn’t change depending on which of us is standing in your yard.
